In Watchtower’s 1969 Kingdom Interlinear, Julius R. Mantey is quoted in support of their John 1:1 a god translation. I wrote MR. Mantey and asked him the two following questions. Is it possible to translate John 1:1 a god? Also, is it possible to translate John 8:58 “I have been” as it reads in the New World Translation? Below is Mantey’s handwritten letter to me and his standard response letter.
